The down-winder ended up being around 7mi in distance from the end of the dike to the Levee riding area in Texas city.  The Hobie beach at the end of the dike is in great condition since the reopening.  The beach is smaller but still plenty large enough for kiteboarding, landboarding, and buggy riding.  We left the Levee around 6pm and headed to the end of the dike to pump up and take off.  The sun was going down when we left and the full moon what out by the time we made it back to the Levee.  The glow sticks on our boards and kites helped us to identify one another on the way down, but there was more than enough light with the moon to see each person’s kite in the air.

After we made it back to the Levee and took a small break, we donned glow sticks again and went out for anther night session.  There were probably 10-15 people who hung around till 9:30pm or so.  Really good time!  We’ll have to do another one soon.
