Kiteboarding and Kitesurfing Lessons are taught 7-days a week on your schedule. There are discounts for weekday and multi-person bookings so bring your freinds out (up to 3 students per instructor). Prices are $330/half day with the discounted weekday rate of (M-Th $270), each additional student is half price! All equipment in included, you just show up and learn to ride. We have a fully stocked kiteboarding shop which is 1 of a network of 4 XLKITES shops nation-wide. We carry over 30 brands including all major kiteboarding companies like Cabrinha, Slingshot, Naish, North, GK, Best, Eclipse, Epic, Wainman, F-One, Flysurfer, Airush, Spleene, Litewave, Liquid Force, Ocean Rodeo, Caution, etc. All our students receive extreme discounts on packages before or after taking lessons with us.

Our teaching location in Texas City is one of the easiest places to learn to Kiteboard in the world! With 2 square miles of waist deep flat water and consistantly good winds all year round it has ideal learning conditions. It also has a grassy launch area and is unregulated for non-commercial operations so windsurfers and kiteboarders can enjoy the wind without rules or problems with the city. Check out the average wind graph below. The only winds that are not good for the Levee teaching area are NW, W or SW and as you can see from the graph below there is very little westerly winds at the Levee.
A 3-hour intermediate lesson quickly refreshes your kite skills, reviews body dragging and focuses on riding proficiency. You and your XLKITES instructor will work on getting the board on your feet, diving the kite, and going for your first rides. The time spent learning the nuances of the kite in an introductory lesson will pay off as you can focus your attention on gaining board skills.
All kiteboarding gear is provided during lessons, including helmets and flotation vests. You will be riding brand new gear from all the top manufactures like Cabrinha, Slingshot, Liquid Force, Globekite, Litewave, Ocean Rodeo, and DaKine. We do all of our lessons on “bow” kites to provide maximum safety and performance. Xlkites instruction is highly hands on – we’ll be in the water with you on the coldest winter day! School kites and boards allow you the opportunity to try out the newest equipment from all the leading kiteboard manufacturers. When it’s time for your own setup, you’ll already have a good idea of what works best for you and can invest wisely, knowing that we’ll give you the soundest advice around.
